Dulaney defeats Towson 48-33

The match started at 120 pounds and Philip Bramucci hit an unorthodox headlock and brought his opponent to his back and picked up the 28 second pin to open the team score 6-0 in favor of the Lions.

At 126, Destiny Benjamin battled her opponent for 2 periods without scoring a point.  In the 3rd period, the Towson wrestler chose bottom and Destiny made him pay for it by turning to his back and pinning him to extend the Lion lead to 12-0.

At 132, Ephrem Fitzsimmons fought hard, but he couldn't score and lost the match 7-0, cutting the team score to 12-3.

At 138, James Fitzsimmons traded takedowns in the first period and lead 3-2.  In the 2nd period, James chose bottom, but tried to hit a wrist roll, he reached back right into his opponent's half nelson and got pinned, cutting the Lion lead to 12-9.

At 145 pounds, Dulaney forfeited to Towson, giving Towson the lead 15-12.

At 152, Brett Burke dominated his opponent with 3 takedowns and some backpoints and was able to pin his opponent in the 2nd period to bring the Lions in the lead 18-15.

At 160, Nicole Wanga battled, but was taken down twice and ultimately pinned in the 2nd period to bring the team score to 21-18 in favor of Towson.

At 170 Zavion Woodard repeatedly took down his opponent and dominated the match.  He picked up a 2nd period pin to bring the team score to 24-21 in favor of the Lions.

At 182, Ben Livingston was able to take down his opponent and turn him with a power half and get the 1st period pin to extend the Lion lead to 30-21. 

At 195, Tyren Hamilton was able to take his opponent down and pin him with a near side cradle, bringing the team score to 36-21.  This was a team leading 12th win for Tyren and his 8th pin of the year.

At 220, Bryce Brown fought hard, but was caught in a headlock and was pinned in the 1st period, cutting the team score to 36-27.  

At 285, Nick Schiefelbein got two takedowns in the first period and was able to put in a leg and turn and pinned his opponent in a power half.  This brought the team score to 42-27.  This was Nick's team leading 12th win and team leading 9th pin of the season.  Nick is now ranked 20th in the state at 285 pounds.

At 106, the Lions defaulted to Towson, cutting the lead to 42-33. 

At 113, Luis Ruano received a forfeit, making the final team score 48-33. 

The Lions overall record is 9-4 and 2-3 in Dual Meets.

The Lions will be practicing over the Winter Break and their next match is our Home Opener against Kenwood on Thursday, January 3rd.
