The match started at 113 pounds. Luis Ruano got taken down, but he was able to get a quick reversal. In the 2nd period, Luis got taken down to is back and was pinned. Milford Mill took the lead 6-0.
At 120 pounds, Philip Bramucci got the first takedown, followed by a Milford Mill escape. In a scramble, the Milford Mill wrestler got the takedown, but was quickly reversed to his back and Philip was able to secure the pin in 1:04 to tie the score at 6-6.
At 126 pounds, Destiny Benjamin got taken down in the 1st period, but was able to escape and get her own takedown with a double leg. Destiny chose bottom in the 2nd period and was able to quickly reverse her opponent. She was then able to turn her opponent with a half nelson and get the pin. The Lions lead 12-6.
At 132 pounds, Ephrem Fitzsimmons battled his Milford Mill opponent, but neither wrestler was able to score in the 1st period. In the 2nd period, Ephrem was able to turn his opponent with a half nelson and pick up his first win and pin of the year. The Lions lead 18-6.
At 138 pounds, James Fitzsimmons battled a Franklin wrestler who got 4th in the County Championships the previous season. James battled hard throughout the match, but ultimately lost by Technical Fall with the score 20-5. The Lions now lead 18-11.
At 145 pounds the Lions forfeited to bring the score to 18-17.
At 152 pounds, Brett Burke was able to snap his opponent down and spin behind for the first takedown. Brett got another takedown in the 2d period and was able to turn his opponent in a half nelson and get his first win and pin of the year. The Lions now lead 24-17.
At 160 pounds, Sam Bloch was able to get the first takedown with a double leg to a body lock and a mat return. He was able to turn him with an arm bar and half nelson to pick up the pin just before time expired in the first period. Sam is now 3-0 with 3 pins and none of his opponents have made it past the 1st period. The Lions now lead 30-17.
At 170 pounds, Noah Dow was able to get the first takedown, but while trying a half nelson, was turned to his back and pinned. The Lions now lead 30-23.
At 182 pounds, Ben Livingston gave up the first takedown, but was able to immediately reverse him. Ben turn him to his back and got 2 backpoints but was later reversed to end the period tied 4-4. In the 2nd period, Ben was able to escape and take his opponent down. In the 3rd period, Ben took his opponent down directly to his back and pin him in a side headlock to pick up his 2nd pin of the year. The score was now 36-23.
At 195 pounds, Tyren Hamilton was able to take his opponent down directly to his back and pin him in 35 seconds to pick up his 2nd pin of the year. The score was now 42-23.
At 220, Bryce Brown was taken down a few times by his opponent, but was able to battle back with escapes. He fought off his back, but ultimately lost a 16-5 decision. The team score was now 42-27.
At 285, Nick Schiefelbein took his opponent down and got 2 back points before later turning him again and getting the pin in 1:50 to bring the team score to 48-27.
At 106 pounds, the Lions forfeited the weight to end the match 48-33 to bring their record to 1-2 on the year. Their next set of matches is on Friday and Saturday at the Joppatowne Duals. JV heads to the Hereford JV tournament on Saturday.
